A snapped torsion spring sounds like a gunshot and leaves the door dead weight. We replace springs with the correct wire size and cycle rating for your door, then balance and test it.

Torsion springs sit on a shaft above the door. Extension springs run alongside the horizontal tracks. Both store enough energy to lift several hundred pounds, which is why we ask you to leave a broken spring alone until we arrive.
On a two-spring door we recommend replacing both. They have the same cycle count, and the second one rarely lasts more than a few months after the first. We will show you both springs and let you decide.
Some national companies sell a good, better, best spring ladder that tops out with a lifetime spring for four figures. Here is how it actually works.
Standard springs are rated around 10,000 cycles, roughly 7 to 10 years of normal use. High-cycle springs use thicker wire and can run 20,000 to 30,000 cycles or more. They cost more in parts, not multiples more. If you want high-cycle springs we are glad to install them, and we will tell you what the upgrade costs in dollars, not in a sales pitch.
Any spring warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Ours is backed by two shops with street addresses in Louisiana.
Get a second opinion on a spring quote
Spring replacement is one of the most over-quoted jobs in the industry. Ours is a straightforward price, given on site before we start.
For repairs, the technician gives you the price on site before starting, and that price is the bill. New doors and major projects get a written quote. If you have a price from another company, send it to us and we will tell you honestly whether it is fair.
How our pricing works| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Number of springs | Single or pair. Most double doors and many heavy singles use two. |
| Wire size and length | Springs are matched to the weight of your door. Guessing wrong is why doors slam or fly open. |
| Cycle rating | Standard or high-cycle. We will tell you the difference in dollars. |
| Related parts | Worn bearings, cables, or drums are best replaced while the shaft is out. We will show you and let you choose. |
If the car you need is trapped inside, yes, and we run 24-hour emergency calls for exactly this. If you can wait for a regular appointment you will pay the regular rate.
We strongly advise against it. Without the spring, a double door can weigh 250 pounds or more. Lifting it can injure your back or drop the door.
Springs wear at the same rate. Replacing both avoids a second service call within months and keeps the door balanced so the opener is not straining.
Usually about an hour. We carry a range of torsion and extension springs on every truck.
Yes. We will quote standard and high-cycle options side by side so you can see the real difference in cost.
